St. Patty’s

“Please throw me a ball!” screamed every little kid at Seaside’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year, we decided to throw Lester Glenn beach balls. Although tossing beach balls while zoom zooming in a new Mazda was a great idea, it was also last-minute. The air pump averaged 4 minutes a ball and doing it manually was a dizzying experience. The Enforcer, who is the Corporate Comptroller at Lester Glenn Auto Group, her niece and I did our best, making sure as many kids as possible got a beach ball. Old-fashioned cars, officers, giant dogs, people in green, and of course… men in skirts. Thank you, Seaside, for having us! We’ll see you next year!

Subaru Stars

There’s a lesson I learned many moons ago: never let a teacher fix your sink and never let a handyman teach you history. We’ll let it slide this time. Mr. Handy, a full-time Subaru salesman and part-time fixer-upper, explains the 6 stars found on the Subaru emblem. Well, he does his best. Click here to see for yourself.

Paint

When I was in high school, I tried painting my car by hand. Big mistake. In hindsight, wish I had the Wolf Man around. As you may know, the Wolf Man is Lester Glenn’s Used Car Manager. He’s also the star of his own Lester Glenn production called “Top Dollar”. “I think I’ve got it,” Wolf Man said to me when I asked what the second show would highlight. “Paint!” He said. “Paint?” I asked. “Yeah, paint. Wait until you see a car with bad paint versus one that was protected properly!” Click here to watch the second installment of Top Dollar.

Bear Necessities

Baloo is a Finance Manager at Lester Glenn’s Toms River Hyundai dealership; I named him after a bear from ‘The Jungle Book’ because of his love for Disney culture. Michael, a recent customer, was so excited about Baloo’s mutual interest in all things Disney that it was mentioned more than once during our conversation. Michael also felt good about his experience at Lester Glenn… and how could he not! Baloo was there to make things simple, helping Michael get all the bare necessities that come with a Lester Glenn purchase. Click here to see Michael’s testimonial.

Under Construction

Have you ever seen an abandoned construction site? It always seems 3 quarters complete with that final quarter in a perpetual state of limbo. In this economy, it’s all too common a sight while driving down your local highway. On the left, there’s a condo complex littered with cranes and bulldozers as if a giant left behind his toys in a sandbox. On the right, a new 5 story medical building has needed windows on the top floor for about 2 years. Keep going down that highway until you’ve made it to RT 37 in Toms River. You’ll see a brand new Subaru & Mazda dealership that began construction in February 2010 and is just about complete. That’s less than three months. “It’s a state of mind!” So says the Big Man, a General Sales Manager at Lester Glenn. It’s more than that; it’s a state of action. Family Business

Wikipedia partly defines a family business as a business where it’s stakeholders have a significant commitment toward the business’ overall well-being. In a business that relies on customer loyalty, Lester Glenn takes on this definition seriously. Take Ed and Nancy for example. This is their fourth car purchase at Lester Glenn Hyundai of Toms River. They know our salespeople by name and stop in sometimes to say hello. Like any good family, there is a mutual respect between all parties involved. “We’re like family,” Ed said during his testimonial. Ed isn’t related to anyone here. But if he’s treated with respect and is given a fair deal by people who are committed to the dealership’s overall well-being, then we’ve gone beyond just selling cars. To Poland with Love

“It’s Vladimir Putin,” Kris jokes as he answers his cellphone in a foreign language. I’m sitting across from a man who I imagine has seen things I’ve only read in books. He’s lived in Germany, Canada and now the USA. J-Beats, a Subaru salesman who’s no stranger to Lester Who, approached me with the opportunity to film Kris, a customer who speaks fluent Polish. “What am I supposed to do? It’s not like Lester Glenn has a translator,” I said to J, concerned how this testimonial would end up. Luckily, Kris speaks at least three languages that I know of, one being English. As I waited for his call to be through, I wondered what we’d speak about. “So how does this go?” He asked in English. “Just speak about your experience today,” I answered, “and if you could let me know what you said in English, I’d appreciate it.” As he floated between Polish, Russian and English, a certain air of mystery surrounded us. I imagined him going on a secret mission in his Subaru; a Polish James Bond off to save the world in his new Sports Utility Vehicle. Click here to hear what Kris had to say.

Top Dollar

Ever wonder what it takes to get top dollar when you trade in a used vehicle? What factors are taken into consideration when deciding on how much your vehicle is actually worth? The Wolf Man, Lester Glenn’s Used Car Manager, is here to help. In a segment he calls “Top Dollar,” Wolf Man takes you behind the scenes at Lester Glenn. Tips, warnings, advice… full moon style. When Customers Become Friends

I’m late. This is not good. How did I mess this up? I grab my camera, jacket and keys. Before leaving, I check my Google Calendar. There it is: the appointment I made with Candace. It was for a customer testimonial at 4pm, but mistakenly I chose the following Monday when scheduling a reminder. I arrive at Lester Glenn Hyundai in Manahawkin, shocked that she waited so long. “I’m so sorry that I’m late,” I said honestly. Although not thrilled with my tardiness, she’s a teacher and is used to having endless patience. Between my arrival and our scheduled appointment, Candace took the opportunity to unwind, have a cup of coffee and enjoy some alone time. We recorded about 5 minutes of film, but spent an additional 30 minutes just talking. Candace was no longer just a customer with a story. School teacher, mother, loving wife and proud owner of a Sante Fe. Did I mention she’s also a friend of mine? Click here to meet Candace, who claims that the color was the deciding factor.
